“I paint to translate feelings into form, blending pattern, silhouette, and celestial architecture to guide the viewer through a narrative mood.”
Art by Kate Huezo
Kate Huezo is a Design Leader and Multidisciplinary Artist whose work channels emotion, myth, and feminist themes into richly textured visuals. Her paintings often combine elemental patterns, celestial motifs, and architectural forms to explore how feelings—love, passion, sadness—can be translated onto canvas. From early anime-inspired sketches to today’s large-scale mixed-media pieces, her practice continually evolves across watercolors, acrylics, resin, and graphic ink, always searching for new ways to create.
Her art has been shown internationally, beginning at the VDNKh Expo Center in Moscow (2012) and Kuala Lumpur’s Wei-Ling Gallery and Limkokwing Gallery (2015), then moving to San Francisco’s SOMArts (2018), 111 Mina Gallery (2019), and other local venues. Between 2017, 2018 and 2019 she exhibited at Burning Man, painting a mural at Center Camp Café and contributing to the collaborative project Memento Morium.
In parallel, Huezo runs KH Creative, a UX consultancy specializing in logistics and emerging technologies, where her design leadership informs the intuitive, human-centered quality of her visual art. She describes her process as an emotional outlet and a narrative act. Silhouettes and subtle figures serve as guides for viewers, inviting them to enter the mood of each work and trace the story she is telling with brushes and color.
Her paintings have left the canvas to become lived symbols: a commissioned piece once graced a book cover and was so loved by its author that he had it tattooed on his arm, and several of Huezo’s own paintings have become her personal tattoos.
Currently, Kate is developing a new series inspired by her forthcoming novel Moon, blending elemental magic, astrology, and spiritualism.
Katerina Huezo’s work unfolds across five distinct series, each offering a different lens on her core themes of emotion, myth, and connection. Rays captures the pulse of the night city through architectural forms and neon light. Emotions turns female silhouettes into living embodiments of feeling. Universe travels outward into cosmic resin landscapes that glow in the dark. Flow experiments with watercolors and ink to reveal soft, feminine figures in motion. And Connecting returns to nature with floral and animal silhouettes rendered in rich mixed media. Together these series form an evolving archive of her artistic journey.
Series Overview
-
Connection
Nature, flora, and animal silhouettes converge in resin, pigments, and acrylic. This series celebrates our connection to the living world across multiple mediums and textures.
-
Universe
A luminous journey into space, cosmos, and stars. Resin on wood and canvas glows with hidden pigments, revealing celestial shapes and constellations that come alive in the dark.
-
Emotions
Fluid female silhouettes embody dreaming, contemplation, and inner movement. Painted in acrylic and metallic pigments, these works transform feeling into form and invite viewers to sense each mood.
-
Flow
An experimental dance of watercolors and ink on paper. Feminine silhouettes emerge from splashes and linework, exploring freedom, softness, and the beauty of process.
-
Rays
Bold strokes and layered geometry echo the flashing lights and facades of the night city. This acrylic-on-canvas series captures the rhythm of urban architecture and the pulse of neon after dark.
